Rice's Newsletter - Fall 2019

From the President
If there are two things that Rice’s is known for, it’s planting and planning. And fall is the perfect time of year for both. Cooler temperatures may be just around the corner, but there’s still time to fit in a fall enhancement project or plan ahead to get your name on the list for spring. Whether you want to add an evergreen screening to create some cozy, natural ambiance to your outdoor entertaining area, or you’re hosting a graduation party in June, a conversation with your account manager can get the ball rolling for that custom enhancement that brings your yard one step closer to your dream space. So give us the details! Tell us all about your upcoming events or the grandiose plans you have for your landscape. We’re here to make that vision a reality with stunning designs and quality labor.
As many of you know, this past season has been a challenge. Not only did our area experience unseasonably wet summers two years in a row, but the ongoing labor shortage throughout the United States has proven taxing. We here at Rice’s are committed to strict hiring standards and are proud to be a drug free workplace. If you know someone who might be a good fit for our team, please encourage them to view our career opportunities and complete an application.
As always, thank you for your patience and continued support of us here at Rice’s. Please let me know if you have a question or comment. You can reach me by email at [email protected] or by calling 330-499-9857. I’d be happy to hear from you.
Sincerely,
- Bryan Rice
Award Winning Project
Lake Front Luxury
Our client was building a Cape Cod style home on an outcrop peninsula of a popular lake. Rice's was tasked with creating an authentic Cape-style landscape to perfectly match the look and feel of the home.
Due to the home’s unique location, the owner challenged us to create a privacy buffer between the front of house and the marina but to remain open to the beautiful lake views at the back of the house. The swimming pool was also to be screened from boaters on the main lake with a hedge. Beautifully designed window boxes with seasonal colors were incorporated into the second floor of the home to draw the eye. Careful planning allowed us to run the irrigation lines discreetly so they would not be seen.

Full Service Maintenance
A time for reflection
As the leaves get ready to fall, it’s a great time to review and assess any changes or additions to your landscape. Were any shrubs, trees, or planting beds added to your landscape? Did we install a patio or even a water feature? These new areas may need additional maintenance, such as adding bed maintenance to your package or an additional pruning visit to keep your landscape looking it absolute best. These are good things to discuss with your account manager who can help you with the changing requirements of new installations, as well as advise you about any necessary adjustments for an aging landscape.
