Custom Hardscape Design for Hendrickson 

Hendrickson International manufactures and supplies suspension systems and a variety of components to the global commercial transportation industry. When they undertook a major addition to their facility in Canton, Ohio, they wanted to overhaul the drab landscaping of their offices at the same time.  

The refresh needed to be inviting to new, young talent, as well as help the company put their best foot forward with visiting international clients. A Rice’s designer and registered landscape architect met with Hendrickson to discuss goals, expectations and budget. As the partnership formed, they also visited the site to take measurements and grade readings of the outdoor space to formulate a plan for the landscaping.  

After many conversations between our designer and the client, we began the commercial design installation work. The final design incorporated the clean, contemporary look of the updated building by using groupings of colorful, low-maintenance plantings to give a big impact, not only as you walk in the door, but also from the nearby highway. 

We also upgraded the irrigation system, replaced an old chain link fence with a low-maintenance metal picket fence and updated the sign monument and flag poles.  

To solve the issue of a salt being tracked into the building in the winter, we incorporated a heating system underneath the entrance pavers, complete with Hendrickson’s logo and coordinated to match corporate colors, showing a strong branding presence throughout the new build. 

To keep their investment looking its best, Hendrickson signed on for our year-round Commercial Grounds Services package, which includes replacing annuals, maintaining the irrigation system, mowing and maintaining the lawns and keeping the planting beds weed free.

Landscape Maintenance for Pro Football Hall of Fame  

Each year, the Pro Football Hall of Fame welcomes visitors from all 50 states and nearly 70 countries. With vibrant flowerbeds and custom plantings, the campus is lined with bright colors and a variety of gorgeous custom landscape designs. 

To help their landscaping score a touchdown day in and day out, the Hall of Fame partnered with Rice’s for commercial landscaping management. Our team proactively handles all their needs, from a beautiful entrance to meticulously maintained seasonal flowerbeds.

Landscape Maintenance for Belden Village Mall 

In 2015, we helped Belden Village Mall — a popular shopping center for the Canton area — renovate their main entry.  

Our team designed and installed dramatic yet tasteful lighting; large, colorful plant groupings; and low-stacked Briarhill sandstone walls. To emphasize the new contemporary entry canopy, we installed a simple alley of columnar trees. This also created a visual buffer from the parking areas.  

Belden Village Mall also partnered with Rice’s for their on-going commercial grounds management. We regularly visit the site for bed maintenance (weeding and insect control), pruning, irrigation, spring and fall cleanups and more.
